Gabriel M. Dallago
Ph.D. Candidate
Gabriel M. Dallago is an Animal Scientist with an academic training focused on data analytics. He holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Animal Science from the Federal University of Jequitinhonha and Mucuri (Diamantina, MG, Brazil) and a Ph.D. degree in Animal Science from McGill University (Montreal, QC, Canada). Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow sharing his time between CowLife McGill and the Computer Science Department of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
Gabriel is mainly interested in the opportunities to improve the sustainability of the livestock industry brought by precision livestock farming. He is particularly keen on harnessing the flexibility of machine learning algorithms both to analyze data and to obtain insights that are of biological and managerial importance for decision making. To that end, he has worked on projects covering aspects of cow health, welfare, and longevity. He hopes to contribute towards improving the sustainability of the livestock industry from an animal-centric perspective.
